Kan inte låta bli att berätta om en ny kosmologisk teori .
Den går ut på att universum är en tredimensionell spillra (eller ett "membran") av en fyrdimensionell sol som exploderat och blivit en fyrdimensionell supernova. I dess inre har bildats ett (återigen fyrdimensionellt) svart hål. I samband med att detta svarta hål bildades så utstötte det ett tredimesionellt "membran" - som är vårt universum.
Detta utvidgar sig, och det är därför det ser ut som om universum expanderar.
Teorin verkar tas på allvar på en hel del håll, ;och anses ha en del fördelar, framförallt att den sägs förklara varför universum är så homogent: "The model also naturally explains our Universe’s uniformity. Because the 4D bulk universe could have existed for an infinitely long time in the past, there would have been ample opportunity for different parts of the 4D bulk to reach an equilibrium, which our 3D Universe would have inherited".
Ja, vad ska man säga om det? Vet inte riktigt, men det är kanske ett ovanligt slående exempel på det som Hannes Alfvén beskrev i citatet högst upp. Men den typ av skepticism han stod för tycks vara helt marginaliserad i dagens kosmologiska diskurs.
